30 Weeks

Total weight gain: the past month only 2 lbs!  Woo!  I'm up about 24 total.

How much does baby weigh: She is around 3 pounds now and roughly the size of a head of cabbage.  This is average at least - let's hope shes close to this with this weeks news.

Maternity clothes: uh huh.

Stretch marks:  nope.

Sleep: this week has been rough.  I'm starting to head back to the routine of falling asleep really quickly around 9ish then waking up anywhere from 1-3 and back to sleep at 4-5 only to be woken up by my alarm at 5:30.  Blah.  The same thing happened during my last pregnancy and thank god for DVR.

Best moment this week: heard a nice strong heartbeat on Tuesday.

Movement: She is going through spurts through out the day - a lot of movement for a while, then nothing, then a bunch, then nothing.  She is really moving when I'm up at 3 am though, no doubt about it.

Food cravings: everything I want I can't have.  Remember last week was sweets, all day long - buh bye to that one.

Belly button in or out: in

What I miss: being relaxed - its been a rough week.

What I'm looking forward to: Monday - I go to meet with the nutritionist and nurse to get more info, details, instructions about gestational diabetes.

Milestone: I hit the big 3-0.  We're almost to single digits in the 40 week countdown here.

Thoughts: Getting news on a Tuesday that what you eat may be bad for your baby because the placenta isn't doing its job well enough and then not being able to get any more information about said issue until the following Monday is torture.  I'm having a really hard time this week because I'm hungry all of the time but am afraid to eat.  The only direction my doctor gave me on Tuesday was to cut down on the number of carbs I was eating until I went to my appointment at the diabetes clinic.  Well I had no clue the earliest they could see me would be almost a week later.  Ugh.  My doctor did tell me Tuesday if I am too strict with the diet then the baby will be too small, if I am too lenient with the diet than I'm going to have a large baby.  Both scare me, a lot.  So I'm left hanging for 6 days in limbo not sure what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat, and I have a brain that never stops and have read every google article on gestational diabetes published.  Um, yeah I'm going nuts here.  This may be another reason the sleep has sucked so much this week.  I actually want this weekend to go fast.

I failed.

Yesterday was my 3 hour glucose test.  I had to do it last time and I passed with flying colors.  I wasn't nervous at all going into it since my 1 hour test results were so similar to my last pregnancy.  Since I thought it would be no big deal I was even more shocked and upset when I found out I failed today.  This means I have gestational diabetes.

I'm all hormonal and crazy right now in general, ask Zach, but I cried the whole way home.  In the end is it that big of a deal - no.  Does it mean I have to change my diet - yes.  Are baby and I still okay right now - yes.  And that's all that really matters.  But I'm still upset.  I wanted a 'typical, easy' pregnancy.  I don't think that is possible.  My doctor assured me this is better to have than my crazy liver last time but I'm not thrilled.

I'm intimidated by the whole idea.  I've been second guessing everything I normally eat all night.  Since my appointment was so late in the day today I couldn't schedule my appointment with the dietitian.  Tomorrow my doctors office will call me and get me set up with an appointment and class to tell me what to do next.  From what I understand it will consist of a new diet and learning how to check my blood sugar 4 times a day.

One of my biggest fears is obviously hurting the baby and if I don't change things up then she could be a very large baby and that would lead to a c-section.  I really would like to deliver the baby like I did with Luke and am hoping to do everything I can to prevent a c-section.  I also had this crazy dream that I would get to hold the baby as soon as she was born since Luke was taken away immediately to get checked out.  I'm afraid that may be out of the question now too.  So yeah, I'm just sad.  I know its not the worst news ever but for some reason its really upsetting me.

Operation Big Boy Room

We started to redo Luke's room today to make it into his big boy room.  It's not a nursery by any means at this house but we still had all of the old things up from when we bought the house and he's still in his crib.  The room came with dark blue carpet, red and white painted walls, dragonfly hooks, and a border with frogs and bears fishing.  The blue carpet is staying, everything else is going.  This is what it looked like before:

Today I took down all of the border and it looks like this:

Zach needs to sand down the wall where the border was then next weekend we can get it painted.  The following weekend he'll get his twin mattress, and within the next 6-8 weeks his actual furniture should arrive.  I'm so excited to make it his space and not just what we moved into.

Just About 29 Weeks

Total weight gain:  back on track with weight gain - food poisoning will do that for ya

How much does baby weigh: She should be around 2.5 lbs by now! Since I'm 29 weeks tomorrow she is about the size of an acorn squash and roughly 15-16 inches long.

Maternity clothes:  Of course.  I'm not a a fan of most of my work pants though.  Maybe she's positioned differently than Luke but the pants have the band that go up over your belly but only like half way.  Its super uncomfortable and I wear it lower under the bump but then it makes the rest of my pants lay funny.  Honestly though, no pants look attractive at this point so whatever.

Stretch marks:  nope

Sleep:  I miss good sleep.  Really miss good sleep.  Based on my memories with Luke it's going to be a really, really long time before good sleep again.  At least in about 3 months I can sleep on my belly again, even if it will be interrupted sleep.

Best moment this week:  starting the third trimester!

Movement:  There has been a lot of movement high this week.  Not sure what position she's in down there but she a twistin' and a turnin'.

Food cravings: sweets.  all. day. long.

Belly button in or out: in and getting wider each day

What I miss: being able to take medicine.  I've been fighting sickness for 3 weeks now and theres not much I can take.  And even the things I have been taking make me nervous, I don't like putting anything weird in my body right now.

What I'm looking forward to: the big 3-0 for weeks.  That's the homestretch.

Milestone:  Third Trimester

Thoughts:  I need to get moving.  By this point with Luke the nursery was almost complete, the list of names was down to only a few, and I was way more prepared for the arrival of a baby.  I have none of the above even close to done and am completely unprepared for a baby right now.  I'm starting to stress but there's not enough time in the day for everything.  I also have been exhausted lately.  I'm not sure if its because of where I am in the pregnancy or everything else but its hard to keep my eyes open.  I was in bed before 8 on Tuesday and before 9 the past two nights.  Luke has even started looking at me saying, "mommy tired."

Choo Choo, Luke's 2!

Luke's party was train themed of course.  I made him a birthday banner and even though it was geared towards this year, I'm totally using it for a few more years.
Our decorations were either Thomas, red or blue.  He woke up Saturday morning and ran out and saw the Thomas table cloth and squealed with excitement.  During his nap I went to the party store to get the balloons and when he woke up from that he doubly squealed seeing a Tommy balloon.  I was so excited that he was so excited for all the little things for his party.
My dad and stepmom brought the cake, also a major hit with the little man.
He got all sorts of attention, a ton of train presents, and a ton of sweets that day as well.

I'd say he loved it.

Oh Hi

I'm still here, just been crazy sick and crazy busy.  Since my last post I have been to the doctors twice but big ol' pregnant me can't really take any good medicine so my body is slooooowly fighting off whatever cold/flu/infection I have.  According to the doctor last week I have about 4 more days at least of the tired, achy, congested, coughy feeling left.  Yay for me.

Also since my last post I'm officially into the third trimester. **happy dance, happy dance**  So only 12 more weeks to go and we'll meet baby girl T.  As exciting as that is I have so much to do before her arrival.  But now that Luke is 2 and all of his party/prep is over I can focus on the nursery and big boy room transformation again.

Oh yeah, Luke turned 2 today!  Where the heck did those two years go?!?  It's amazing that its already been two years since we met our little guy.  Each day I love him more than the last, if that is even possible at this point.  And even though we are deep into what some call the "terrible" twos he is still my favorite thing in the world.

And the last two topics deserve posts of their own and eventually they will have them.  But for now the birthday boy is finally quiet and (fingers crossed) sleeping which means this momma is getting things together for tomorrow and is off to dreamland herself.  Have a good week all!

the little face I love, happy birthday Luke!

Fail. AGAIN!

When I was pregnant with Luke I failed my 1 hour glucose test by 2 (142 instead of 140 or lower) and I was basically drained of blood due to my liver that went all crazy.  Today I got a "private number" call which should have clued me in that bad news was coming.  No news is good news and I thought since I took the test last Saturday and today is Friday I must have passed with flying colors.  Wrong.

I got a 145.  5 stinking numbers away from the golden number of passing.  Boo.  The lady almost tricked me though telling me how good my liver enzymes were and all my other blood work checked out awesomely.  Then she asked me if this was my first or not, which now seems a bit strange, only to prep me for you failed the glucose test by a little bit.  Unfortunately that means I have to schedule the 3 hour test which they trick you with because it really takes up about 4 hours of your morning and you feel like complete poo the rest of the day.  What's up with me and the oh so close but oh so far results.  Geesh.
