My first birthday as a mommy! Luke and I got to nap together this morning and went to his 2 month appointment this afternoon. Even on my birthday its all about Luke and thats a-okay! My life has changed so much in the past year. It was actually a year ago today that I got the okay from my doctor to start trying to get pregnant and now a year later we have a handsome little Luke in our lives. I doubt I could have imagined how different things would be compared to this time last year or how quickly it all happened. 27 sounds so much older to me than 26 and now I'm older than Zach for a few months, weird. Oh well, I still don't look 27 so no worries, hah!
Luke weighed in at 11 pounds 10.5 ounces today! He's growing so fast! His checkup went well, he got a lot of shots today and handled them like a trooper. Some tears but no freak outs. Soon after the shots and tears he fell asleep and is still napping now. Poor little guy. Since he got a thumbs up from the doctor we don't go back until 4 months...what will he weigh by then???
The rest of the birthday is pretty low key, we'll have dinner as a little family and watch some tv...the weather is too crappy for a walk tonight. The big celebrations start later this week. Zach and I have our first date night planned for Thursday - I'm so excited! We're just doing dinner but it will be just Zach and me, yay! Then Friday night I'm off to get a massage, my birthday present from Zach. I may even enjoy my first adult beverage (or two) in almost a year in the next few days, wowza!

Our Week Together
Easter Sunday - the calm before the storm. We all had a rough night but he's so peaceful here :)

Monday - Opening day for the Phillies! Luke fell asleep during the first inning.

Wednesday - sporting a mini mohawk!

Friday - He either sucks on his hand or has a pacifier in his mouth.

Saturday - First hat besides winter beanies, absolutely LOVE it and the outfit!

I need to go shopping for more hats!

Hello Park City
Took Luke on his first trip to the mall today. I don't think he even knew we left the house though, he was out...fell asleep before we got in the car and is still asleep now that we're home. It made for some easy shopping for me though. I think we may become mall walkers when the weather is bad and we can't walk outside. It's such a smooth ride on the tiled floors! My goal today was to buy shoes so we hit up some department stores and some smaller shoe stores. I learned that shoe departments are very cramped, our travel system is super convenient and easy to use but its huge! It was a bit challenging at times to navigate my way around things without knocking anything down, but we did it! Everybody loves to look at a baby so even if I accidentally take something or someone out, I'm sure it'd be fine, hah! After our short trip was over I had a new pair of shoes (1/2 off by the way, go me!) and we got out of the house for a bit on this gorgeous day. Tonight I have big plans to run out to Target, all by myself, woot!

Ready or Not
I have 4 weeks left of my time being a stay at home mom. I can't believe thats it! I went into work today to introduce Luke to some teachers and see my co-workers. It was great to see everyone, it felt nice to be back in the building again, but seeing the students in study hall made me realize I'm reallllly not ready to even think about work (and it would be okay if Luke stayed a baby forever instead of turning into a 7th grade boy). Seeing as time is flying by, Zach and I decided that its time to try and introduce Luke to some sort of schedule. We're starting with a consistent bedtime and trying to set a bedtime routine. Maybe from there nights will form a schedule of their own?? Not sure, but this is step one for us. Luke is currently upstairs in his crib, not fully asleep but calm enough to be on his own. He's been up there for a while I think drifting in and out of sleep, the monitor goes off every so often with tiny noises but no cries! yay! Wish us luck and a slow next 4 weeks! :)

Whoa!
That's all I have to say some days, just whoa! That can mean, "whoa I can't believe how fast Luke is growing and how absolutely adorable he is" or "whoa, some days I doubt I will ever have another baby!" Yesterday was the first type of whoa, today was the second. But lets start with this weekend, it was jam packed with things to do.
I had my first day away from Luke this weekend, for a good 9 hour stretch...I wasn't sure how it would go but I survived and so did Luke and Zach. Did I think about him constantly and wonder what he was doing? Yes. Did I call to check in on my guys? Yes. Did I drive kind of fast to get home at the end of the day because I missed them terribly? Yes. But did I survive and actually enjoy a little bit of time being an adult again? Yes! I had real clothes on, shoes with heels, and carried a purse instead of a diaper bag, score! When I got home I just wanted to cuddle my little guy all night and most of the next day but it was refreshing to have some time away. And to top it all off, Luke slept for a 4 hour stretch that night. That means I got to sleep for four consecutive hours!!! AMAZING! That's the longest stretch of sleep I've had since Luke was born and when I woke up at 3 am to feed him, my body was completely refreshed and wide awake, so I was up forever then, but its all good! Let's hope for more 4 hour stretches in the near future! The next day, since Luke and I were so rested, we spent lots of time hanging out, making faces, and just relaxing, it was wonderful!
Today, unfortunately, was the complete opposite! It was the kind of day that made me question whether I will have a second child, hah. Luke was super fussy and nothing I could do would calm him down. It makes you feel so helpless and pretty much upset me as much as it did him. After many laps around the house, bouncing constantly, feeding, burping, changing, handing him off to Zach, and doing it all over again the fussiness passed. Thank goodness! I have no clue in the end what was wrong, if anything. Being new parents Zach and I questioned everything and tried so hard to figure out what was wrong. It was probably nothing and I'm sure today won't be the only trying day with Luke but it took the best of out of me.
This past weekend we also took 1 month pictures of Luke. Here are a few of them.

I've joined the circus
At least thats what it feels like some days. I am a one man juggling act, some days I do awesome, other days I drop the ball. My days are full of feedings, cuddling, burping, changing, and trying to nap. There's no time for laundry or cleaning or anything else some days. How will I ever manage when work is included in this act? I have a very cuddly baby, which I love, but it also prevents me from getting anything done throughout the day. Some days 8 o'clock hits and I wonder, where in the world did the day go? My house is a mess, I look like a mess, but I have a happy baby and I guess that's all that matters :) It's been almost 5 weeks and I don't have this juggling act down yet, I'm wondering if that ever happens.
Any who, here are a few more pictures from the past week showing the many faces of Luke (and poor Knuckles as well).

Sometimes I'm happy.
Sometimes I'm sad.
Sometimes I'm sleepy.
Sometimes I'm serious.
And sometimes I just love to stare at Mommy and Daddy!
All of the time I take center stage and this makes Knuckles sad. Just wait until I can crawl and walk Knuckles, then you'll get some more attention :)
