When teaching I hate full moons because its almost a guarantee that the students will be crazy or off. Well Luke is having a heck of a time sleeping tonight, pretty much isn't sleeping at all yet. As I'm half awake wandering downstairs to feed him I looked outside and realized the issue - the moon!
No matter what we tried last night Luke just wouldn't sleep. The longest stretch of sleep I got was about 25 minutes. As soon as he would seem to be ready to be put down, he'd last 20 minutes and start whaling. It was insane, even the very calm, soothing voice of Sigourney Weaver from Planet Earth didn't sooth Luke or me in the wee hours of the morning. Poor kid was miserable and so were we. Some of you may think I'm nuts saying "how could the moon really have this much of an effect??" but spend a day with 7th graders on a full moon and you'll be completely convinced. Here's hoping tonight will go better and that moon will start to shrink!

I love DVR
We finally got DVR last Saturday and after only 1 week I'm already in love. It's perfect for the middle of the night when I'm up feeding Luke. It's perfect for me going to sleep when Luke sleeps and still not miss my favorite shows. It's even perfect for when Zach and I can't agree on what to watch we can tape the other show. Now we won't miss a thing. I didn't used to be this into TV but with a baby around I find myself on the couch often feeding, burping, soothing, so there is a lot of TV time lately. Everyone told us how great DVR was for so long but I'm stubborn and didn't want to give Comcast any more of our money, but it's so worth it! So thank you DVR for helping me keep up with my TV world and giving me some sort of entertainment in the middle of the night.

Life with a Newborn
It's so true what people say, your life changes instantly when you have a baby. I would have never imagined myself doing some of the things I've done in the past 10 days or reacting the way I have. For example, last week we came home and Luke was having trouble having a poopy diaper. He finally had a good one the next day and Zach and I were so excited! I would have never imagined being so ecstatic to see poop. Zach, Luke, and I celebrated. I've been peed on, pooped on, and spit up on and I don't even care. Zach and I laugh at everything and I'm never grossed out. Imagine that. It's not all about dirty diapers with a newborn, of course I love the more pleasant parts as well, but that part is expected. Overall, life with a newborn is completely different than life as just a family of two and I absolutely love it! My few minutes of "me" time are almost up, so here are a few more pictures.

Before Luke's first bath!
After Luke's first bath! I don't know how people get bath time pictures, Zach and I had our hands full :)
We got out of the house today and I think this is one my new favorite outfits for him.
And another picture from bath time I just think is cute.

Meet Luke!

Happy Birthday Luke!!!
The past 4 days have been a complete whirlwind. I just looked at my last entry and not too long after that real contractions started and then eventually Baby Luke was born! We left for the hospital around 6:30-7 on Saturday morning and my contractions were about 4-6 minutes apart. We checked in and they told me I was already 7 cm! I was really surprised but ready to go. I got admitted to my room and got some medications and the doctors thought he'd be there by lunch. Well things slowed down a bit after that, but at 3:20 pm Luke Isaac Trimble was born! He didn't have an extremely easy delivery but after getting checked out by one of the doctors he was crying and it was so sweet! Zach got to cut the cord and they finished cleaning him up, weighing/measuring him, and finally I got to hold him. Definitely one of the best moments of my life. He weighed 7 lb 15 oz, is 20 inches long, has big blue eyes, and the most amazing head of hair. His hair was the talk of all of the nurses in the nursery, theres a ton of it and its a mixture of blond, red, and brown. He's one lucky kid with highlights already!
Since that afternoon so much has happened that its hard to believe its only been 4 days. Zach and I brought Luke home yesterday morning and are adjusting to life with a newborn. It's not easy by any means but we're starting to figure things out on our own and are enjoying each minute with him. I know my opinion is biased, but I really think he's the cutest baby ever :) Eventually I'll upload pictures to my computer and post some on here, but I have a feeling the entries will be a bit sparse for a while. Time to feed Luke.

The Waiting Game
I didn't end up having my doctors appointment until this morning due to the weather yesterday. Things went well during the appointment, I'm a "good 3 cm" as my doctor put it, so pretty much about where I was Tuesday. She was happy with how everything was progressing and said 12-24 hours most likely. Well that was around 11:45. The anticipation is killing me, I tried to keep myself busy but I'm sitting around now wishing I'd have some pain with my contractions. I even tried to get some sleep but can't seem to make that happen either. My stomach is getting nice and hard now, more so than the past few days but still pretty much pain free. Its weird that I'm wishing pain on myself, but I'm so ready and just want to get to the hospital and have a baby! The bags are all ready to go, even Zach packed his bag last night. Hopefully soon, I have lots of cramping, back pain, and pressure...all good signs according to my doctor so lets go Baby T, we're ready!

Blizzard
This is what we were up against yesterday and why I had so much stress about being able to get to the hospital. I had to take some pictures to share with Baby T eventually.
The roads are good enough now so we should be set. They are already calling for more snow on Monday, so Baby T you have a small window of opportunity here :)
