Boys Day

Friday Zach and Luke had a boys day together.  Apparently it consisted of staying in your pj's all day, climbing the stairs, and playing in the bathroom.  Take a look.

What I Am

Kids music isn't so good.  We have two cd's that are okay but we have about 4-5 that are downright awful.  Luke loves music.  He has some toys that sing and they aren't awful but it gets kind of repetitive.  Any song with Elmo's voice is a hit but they all end up sounding the same after a while.  So I've been trying to find kids songs that we both enjoy and I found this!

I wish more kids songs were like this one, I LOVE this song!  We listen to it almost everyday, Luke will actually stop what he's doing when it comes on so I think he loves it too.  You rock Sesame Street!

Amazing

Luke went down for two naps today, pretty much on his own!  So again I say AMAZING!

I have an ultimate fighter when it comes to naps, screaming, kicking, throwing his pacifier.  And no, I'm not exaggerating.  This morning he cried a little and was squirming so I put him in his crib with his pacifier, rain on, and closed the door.  There was about 3-4 minutes of crying and then silence!  Success!

This afternoon, even better.  No rocking at all, just put him down, did the normal routine, shut the door.  After about 2 minutes of crying and another 6 or 7 of whining, it was all quiet.  This time I didn't believe it.  I'm not sure what I thought would be happening in there but I went in to check on him and he was out.  All hunched over in a little ball in the corner of his crib, but he was still breathing, sleeping, and I was ecstatic!

I'm not confident this will last but it was wonderful for today at least!

11 Months

Luke is getting so big, turning into more and more of a little man and not so much a baby anymore.

His personality is starting to come through, he wants independence with a lot of things but still doesn't want to hold his bottle.  He is on the move constantly.  Walking, crawling, climbing, pulling, pushing - nothing gets in his way.  He's fearless when it comes to trying new things.  He's had a few bumps and bruises along the way but that doesn't stop him.

Luke has two teeth, front bottom and we think the top middle one is starting to come in.  He likes to try pretty much any food we give him but is still having trouble chewing some things.  He liked sauerkraut on New Years so he is bound to have a good year!  The "I'm gonna getcha!" game is one of his favorites and yes we're teaching him such good English while we're at it.

Naps are rough, too much to do and no time to nap, at least in his mind.  We're not quite ready for one nap a day but I think its coming to that pretty soon.  Nights are off and on, some nights he sleeps amazingly others he barely sleeps at all.

Luke is at a fun stage.  He is starting to understand some things you say to him, smiles when you're happy, can pick up on it when you're not.  And oh, how can I forget his dancing.  So stinking cute.  I've been trying to get a video of it for so long but he must be camera shy when it comes to dancing.

Less than a month and he'll be 1!

I'm That Tired

So I'm sitting on the couch grading papers, watching tv, sipping iced tea to give me enough energy to finish this stack of quizzes.  I have Parenthood on tv trying to watch it as I work.  The blinds are down and curtains pulled so I'm in my own little world.

About half way through the show school delays start popping up on the screen.  I'm getting really excited, then Doug Allen comes on and shows the radar and the snow falling.  I'm thinking, wow, I didn't realize we were supposed to get snow again tonight, but hey I'm all for another delay.

Then more and more delays scroll across the top. So I put the papers down and check online to see if any York County schools have a delay.  Sadly, I find nothing.  So I go to weather.com and the radar is blank.  What the heck!?!  It's only then, about 35 minutes after all this nonsense started, I realize I dvr'd this show LAST night during the storm.

Wow, I feel like a dope.  I think thats reason enough to put the rest of the papers away and give up until tomorrow.  Night all.

Whew!

Everyone is healthy again, well just about.  The stomach bug hit our house and then hung around for way too long.  Last week I had it, this entire week Luke had it.  Zach has some magical powers because he never gets what is going around, let's hope it stays that way.

It is so sad to have a sick baby.   He was just a little lump all week, tired, grumpy, and cuddly. Now don't get me wrong, I love the cuddle part but I can't wait to have my smiley, bouncy, energy packed baby back.  His fever is now gone, he is starting to eat again and keep everything in, so we're on our way back to normal, thank goodness!

Speaking of Luke, he'll be 1 in about a month! Oh my.  This year is going way too fast.  I started to think about and plan his birthday party this week.  It's just going to be a small family party but I'm really into the cake right now.  I spent way too much time looking through Wilton's website tonight and reading about how to make all of their awesome cakes.  Even though there are some really cool ones like this guy

I narrowed it down to a few that I think I can actually tackle, easy ones of course.  More like this

I'm not even sure that I can handle that but I really want to to try.  Wish me luck and if it does turn out good I'll be sure to post some pics on here.  And if you never see a picture - well then I ordered one from the bakery :)  Night all!

Hello 2011!

We rang in the new year at a wedding with friends, music, dancing, and best of all - a night out!  Woo hoo!  I'm more than a little excited still.  It was so much fun and I wish I would have remembered my camera, duh.  Oh well.  Zach was in the wedding so I'm sure I'll find some pictures of his handsomeness sometime soon on facebook.  I tried to take a few pictures on my phone, which has a crazy good camera for a phone, but by the time I remembered that I was at the point where holding the camera steady wasn't really happening.  Even the photographer came over and made fun of me. Fail.

As much as I loved spending the night away, I still was super excited to come home today and see Luke.  We'll spend the rest of the day relaxing, hopefully napping at some point, and then off for some pork (minus the sauerkraut for me) tonight.  Happy New Years everyone!
