Boohoo!

Noooo!  I can't believe the weekend is over!

But I did clap really well today - even made noise!

Snow!

Luke's first experience in the snow...don't really think he loved or hated it, kind of indifferent.  He could hardly move when we bundled him all up though which could have been part of the problem :)

Food Woes

I'm having a tough time getting Luke to eat real food - I mean in more than a puree form.  Tooth #3 is on its way in and that may be impacting our efforts slightly but this boy is getting so picky.  Baby food out of a jar is the easy way out but I'm thinking I need start making some of my own in order to help him transition.

Ever since he started solids its been a slow go.  For the longest time he wouldn't eat any kind of cereal and now he loves oatmeal and other cereals mixed in with his fruits.  He spit out cheerios for a while and now you have to watch how many you put out for him at once because he hoards them in his cheeks.  So I'm thinking this too will pass but it has been rough.

The basics that I thought every kid likes - mac and cheese and mashed potatoes - both no go's for our little man.  I bought some books with recipes to help him make the transition to what we eat and because the meals in the baby food jars stink and if I wouldn't eat it I feel bad giving it to him.  This weekend we tried some eggy toast, pancakes, and green beans, no puree form - which seemed more like a new toy for him than food but he ate some.  Last night we went to the grocery store and I bought all sorts of stuff to make food this week.

After work today I came home and made him some Cheesy Stars Alphabet Pasta - cooked a cup of carrots, mashed them up into smaller chunks, mixed it with some cheddar cheese and alphabet pasta.  I tasted it and it was pretty darn good.  It took forever to make, although I had a little helper pulling at my leg for the majority of the time.  I put a serving in this dish and daddy attempted to feed him.  All my hard work and nothing but yucko faces and spitting it out.  Boo.  I'm not giving up on it though, the leftovers are in the fridge and we'll break it back out tomorrow.

So we'll continue with small chunks of fruits and veggies, he starting to like toast, and we'll keep plugging along with the pastas and other real meals.  One day he'll eat it all, and then one day he'll turn into a teenager that won't stop eating so I should be careful what I ask for.

Boys Day

Friday Zach and Luke had a boys day together.  Apparently it consisted of staying in your pj's all day, climbing the stairs, and playing in the bathroom.  Take a look.

What I Am

Kids music isn't so good.  We have two cd's that are okay but we have about 4-5 that are downright awful.  Luke loves music.  He has some toys that sing and they aren't awful but it gets kind of repetitive.  Any song with Elmo's voice is a hit but they all end up sounding the same after a while.  So I've been trying to find kids songs that we both enjoy and I found this!

I wish more kids songs were like this one, I LOVE this song!  We listen to it almost everyday, Luke will actually stop what he's doing when it comes on so I think he loves it too.  You rock Sesame Street!

Amazing

Luke went down for two naps today, pretty much on his own!  So again I say AMAZING!

I have an ultimate fighter when it comes to naps, screaming, kicking, throwing his pacifier.  And no, I'm not exaggerating.  This morning he cried a little and was squirming so I put him in his crib with his pacifier, rain on, and closed the door.  There was about 3-4 minutes of crying and then silence!  Success!

This afternoon, even better.  No rocking at all, just put him down, did the normal routine, shut the door.  After about 2 minutes of crying and another 6 or 7 of whining, it was all quiet.  This time I didn't believe it.  I'm not sure what I thought would be happening in there but I went in to check on him and he was out.  All hunched over in a little ball in the corner of his crib, but he was still breathing, sleeping, and I was ecstatic!

I'm not confident this will last but it was wonderful for today at least!

11 Months

Luke is getting so big, turning into more and more of a little man and not so much a baby anymore.

His personality is starting to come through, he wants independence with a lot of things but still doesn't want to hold his bottle.  He is on the move constantly.  Walking, crawling, climbing, pulling, pushing - nothing gets in his way.  He's fearless when it comes to trying new things.  He's had a few bumps and bruises along the way but that doesn't stop him.

Luke has two teeth, front bottom and we think the top middle one is starting to come in.  He likes to try pretty much any food we give him but is still having trouble chewing some things.  He liked sauerkraut on New Years so he is bound to have a good year!  The "I'm gonna getcha!" game is one of his favorites and yes we're teaching him such good English while we're at it.

Naps are rough, too much to do and no time to nap, at least in his mind.  We're not quite ready for one nap a day but I think its coming to that pretty soon.  Nights are off and on, some nights he sleeps amazingly others he barely sleeps at all.

Luke is at a fun stage.  He is starting to understand some things you say to him, smiles when you're happy, can pick up on it when you're not.  And oh, how can I forget his dancing.  So stinking cute.  I've been trying to get a video of it for so long but he must be camera shy when it comes to dancing.

Less than a month and he'll be 1!
